Comparison methodology

Comparisons that help you choose.

How SEED compares product approaches, evidence and availability.

Published by SEED, with our position visible

These comparisons explain where Seed of You and other products may fit different needs. They are written by the SEED project, not by an independent review organization. We give alternatives credit for useful work they already do and distinguish it from the experience we are still building.

Compare the actual product

A company may offer several products, plans or development projects. We identify the scope being compared rather than combine every announced capability into a single imaginary package. A released transcription tool, an experimental personal assistant and a future hardware proposal are different things.

The comparison tables cite primary product, support, policy or release sources. “Documented” means the provider describes a capability; it does not mean we performed a hands-on test. Unknown details remain unknown. We do not turn missing evidence into a negative feature claim.

Look beyond a checklist

The important differences include what is preserved, what can be inspected or corrected, where processing takes place, what the output is useful for and how you can leave with a usable copy. A broad list of connections does not establish complete historical capture. A download does not automatically establish independent restoration.

Prices and packages can change. Where a number is not essential, we link to the current provider offer. SEED has no finalized paid price or printing package to compare as a delivered product. The review date and sources let you inspect the basis for the page and report a correction.
