Your history. Your choices.

What the Gmail preservation beta does, and the choices that stay with you.

Begin with a bounded choice

The current SEED beta preserves Gmail messages and attachments. You choose a mailbox and date range before an import starts. The dashboard shows the result, including items that could not be retrieved. Google sign-in creates your SEED account; importing email requires a separate Gmail read-only permission.

Keep a usable way out

You can download the records you preserve and delete your saved archive. Disconnecting Gmail stops future collection; it does not delete messages already preserved. Deleting a SEED archive does not delete the originals in Gmail. Copies you have downloaded remain under your control.

Know the limits

This beta is hosted software. Archive files are encrypted on the server, and the server holds the keys needed to read them. It is not end-to-end encrypted. The current service does not use your archive for advertising or sell your personal records.

The feature pages describe our wider direction. AI conversations, biographies, health summaries, sharing with agents and portable hardware are planned experiences, not features included in the current Gmail beta.

The next chapter

Begin with what you would hate to lose.

Keep the original and the story behind it. Your history deserves a home.
