Guide methodology

Useful instructions. Visible evidence.

How the SEED download library distinguishes provider documentation from tested exports.

Start with the provider’s own instructions

The download library is built around official documentation for obtaining or preserving records from a named service. Each guide identifies the method, formats, scope and known omissions, and keeps links to the supporting sources. Some services offer a broad export; others provide selected records, a request process or a backup that needs the original app to restore.

There are 122 guides cleared for the informational library, including three direct-capture guides. This is a count of articles, not 122 working SEED integrations. VK remains held and is not included in the site’s guide directory.

Review is not an account test

The source review did not execute authenticated provider exports or complete restore tests. A public-reference screenshot illustrates documentation or an interface; it does not prove that an archive was downloaded successfully. Four guide sources retain an explicit search-index evidence limitation: TikTok, Twitch, WhatsApp and Yahoo Mail.

Review dates show when the documentation was checked. They are not promises that a provider’s interface cannot change. Storage and transfer estimates, where included, are planning examples rather than measurements of your account.

Keep improving the instructions

A useful guide should help you obtain and inspect your records without buying SEED. If a step is unclear or outdated, report the page and the relevant official update through the contact page. We will preserve material limitations and correct the instructions rather than convert uncertainty into a claim of support.
