Your control

Keep a usable way out.

Exporting, disconnecting and deleting in the Gmail beta.

Taking a copy and deleting a copy are different

The beta lets you download preserved records. Keep that download somewhere you control and open representative messages and attachments to check it. An export can only include material that the import successfully preserved.

Disconnecting Gmail stops future collection. It does not delete records already preserved in SEED. Deleting the saved archive is a separate action and does not delete the original messages from Gmail.

Remaining copies

Active archive data stays until you delete it or close your account. Recovery copies are scheduled for deletion after seven days. Azure retains soft-deleted copies for a further seven days. Deletion processing may take longer, so this is not a guaranteed maximum. Copies you downloaded or shared yourself are separate from the hosted archive.

For account closure, a privacy request or removal from the product updates list, contact [email protected]. Do not send archive contents or passwords with your request.

Portable hardware is a future concept

The USB experience shown on this site is not currently available to order. The beta provides a downloadable archive; it does not include a device or an offline conversational model.

The next chapter

Begin with what you would hate to lose.

Keep the original and the story behind it. Your history deserves a home.
