Keep more than a backup
A hundred years asks for more than a hard drive. Forever brings together an accessible archive, a copy you hold and a snapshot stored far from everyday life.
An encrypted collection of the records you choose, with a catalogue and recovery instructions. Independent stewardship is central to the plan.A defined archive, cared for over time.
A portable encrypted copy on USB, with the information needed to open it independently. Keep your recovery keys separately, and check and refresh the drive over time.Something you can hold, and pass on.
A selected snapshot written onto archival film and stored in Svalbard. Files become patterns on a physical medium that needs no power to keep them.A lasting snapshot, separate from your live vault.
Far north. Far into the future.
The Arctic World Archive already preserves digital collections inside a former mine on Svalbard. Piql’s film carries both encoded files and instructions for reading them.
This is the route we’re exploring for Forever. A Seed deposit would need a private custody agreement. Your archive would stay encrypted, with access governed by your choices.
Built to outlast a company
The idea behind Seed Foundation is simple: preservation should have a life beyond the business that started it.
For Forever, that means independent custody, money set aside for long-term care and a way for you or your chosen recipient to recover your archive if Seed stops operating. These arrangements are being developed before paid deposits open.
From your life to your archive
01 / GATHER
Start with the photographs, recordings, messages and documents that matter to you.
02 / CHOOSE
Review the exact selection, its size and who should be able to recover it.
03 / PRESERVE
Prepare the readable archive, encrypt it and verify the home and film copies.
04 / CONFIRM
A completed deposit would come with its real custody record, date and recovery instructions.
The Forever plan
An encrypted archive. A copy at home. A film snapshot in Svalbard. Long-term stewardship that gives your story somewhere to go.

Forever is in preparation. The $2,900 figure is a concept price. You can join for Seed updates now; no payment is taken and no deposit is reserved. You’ll be able to review the full offer and terms before deciding.
One hundred years is the preservation horizon we’re designing for. A service term needs funded care, a custody agreement and working recovery arrangements. We’ll make the actual commitment and its conditions clear before purchase.
The film would hold the exact selection you approve, up to the allowance agreed for your deposit. Your live vault can keep growing. Film is a fixed snapshot; adding memories means making a new deposit, with its own terms and cost.
Film recovery means retrieving and scanning the medium, then decoding the files. It isn’t instant cloud access. You’ll also need your encryption keys. The available recovery route, timing and charges will be part of the offer before you buy.
The Forever design is private. Any archive provider would need to agree to confidential custody before receiving your encrypted files. Preserving a collection does not mean agreeing to public display or letting anyone use your identity.
Film is written once and cannot be edited like your live vault. Before any deposit, you’ll need to review the selection and understand the withdrawal and deletion options. Those depend on the custody arrangement and how the physical copy is held.
A USB drive is a convenient home copy, not a century-long storage guarantee. It needs periodic checks and replacement. Keep recovery keys separately and make sure your chosen recipient knows how to find the instructions.
They serve different purposes. Forever is about preserving a selected archive over time. Seed Legacy concerns what you choose to pass on and who can access it. Preservation alone doesn’t authorize access after death or activate an AI double. Explore Seed Legacy.
